The Club is located off Cruicshank road in the Town of Deerfield, NY. It comprises over 100 acres of land located in Oneida County, a main clubhouse with a kitchen and two handicap accessible rest rooms and an attached pavilion with nine picnic tables
The range is used for general target shooting and skeet shooting. It doubles as a parking area when the range is closed for large events.
We have a small pond on the upper part of the club. We would like to develop it for use by members’ children during family days & fishing derbies.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Members are allowed access to the buildings and grounds. With this access comes the responsibility of safety and security. Secure all gates and lock all buildings when leaving. Remove your own trash. The club does not have a trash removal service and depends on its members to help in this area.
Members are responsible for reporting any damage to the grounds or property. Reports can be made to any club officer. Irresponsible activities, which can cause damage or injuries, should also be reported. Problems and suggestions may be brought up for discussion at club meetings.
MESSAGE BOARD
You are required to clip your membership card on the message board when using the range. If you will be out of general view, hiking, riding an ATV or hunting, leave a note on the board. Give your name, date, time and the general area you will be using.
SNOWMOBILES
During the winter months, snowmobiles are allowed to cross the club via the corridor trails. Non-members are not allowed any other access to club grounds.
When the clubhouse is open to serve food and drinks, non-members are invited to join in the activities.
4 WHEELERS ATV’s
ATV’s operated by club members may be used on the club grounds and trails but may not be used on the snowmobile trails off club property. Most of the trails are closed to ATV’s by the landowners.
Your rights as a club member allow you access to the club so long as you conduct yourself in a safe and proper manner. Wanton, malicious or intentional destruction of trails or club property is not allowed and is grounds for cancellation of club membership. Legal action may be used to secure financial restitution.
HUNTING
Members but not guests are allowed to hunt on the club property during the open season, all conservation laws apply.
If you plan to use club property during the open hunting season, you must notify the club in writing. Include in the letter the general time and location you intend to hunt. You must also leave a note on the notice board. This will let range users know someone is out there on the property. Permanent blinds or tree Stands are not allowed on club property.
FIRE ARMS ON AND OFF THE RANGE
All Federal Laws that apply to firearms will be followed on the club property. Members are also required to follow all New York State laws dealing with the use of firearms.
After shooting, you must remove any used targets and pickup and remove spent shells. We depend on our members to keep the club clean. Please help when you can by removing any trash you generate and any left behind by less considerate members.
LIVE AMMUNITION
Please! Do not leave live ammunition lying around. A locked box is provided on the range containing extra targets and a stapler for members use. Secure any unwanted ammunition there.
FISHING
At this time, there are no fish in the pond. We are evaluating its re-stocking and general usage.
CLUB HOUSE AND PAVILION
The clubhouse and pavilion are for the use of members only. You and your immediate family (family generally means father, mother and their child or children) may use the pavilion or the clubhouse on a casual basis. If you wish to have your extended family or friends gather for a party of any kind then you need to rent the clubhouse.
We encourage members to get together and spend time at the club working on projects related to hunting, fishing or shooting. An event such as the Wednesday night clay shooting started as a small group and is now a scheduled event.
Any planned repeated event must be scheduled with the board. We do not want a conflict with other club functions.
Events such as Hunter Safety, Snowmobile Safety and Scouting activities are scheduled events open to the public. Any other such events must be pre-approved by the board and if applicable, a fee charged.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS NOT COVERED
The club has broad limits on the type of events that can be held. Training sessions, educational classes and special events can be scheduled with the board. Members are encouraged to contact the club officers at the monthly meetings.
MEMBER AND NON-MEMBER RENTALS
At various times the club will be rented as part of our fundraising activities.
The shooting range and club grounds are CLOSED when the property is rented out. The renters have exclusive use of the kitchen, clubhouse, parking lot, pavilion and tables.
ALCOHOL SALES are PROHIBITED during rentals or club events due to insurance and may only be sold when special insurance is obtained.
Rental contract, leasing agreement and fees are due before any use of club property.
CLUB ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
The club sponsors and runs hunter safety classes at the clubhouse with some range involvement.
Snowmobile Safety Classes are also held at the clubhouse with no range use at all during any of the sessions.
Wednesday night is clay bird/skeet shooting.
Thursday night is for range maintenance.
THE RANGE
The range is 200 yards from shooting stands to the furthest targets.
Target frames are removable. They slide into PVC pipe
Target Stands are 2’ wide and 6’ long but lose 18” of height when stood up in the PVC pipe.
Targets are in rows spaced 25 yards apart starting at 25 yards and extending out to the two fixed targets at 200 yards.
Members are allowed to shoot during normal daylight hours.
The range is closed when the club is rented, used for training or safety classes.
Members may bring a non-member guest up to shoot. Members may not bring more than one guest at a time or repeatedly bring the same non member(s) up to shoot. If your friend(s) like the range, give them a membership form and sponsor them.
All members have the same rights on the range. The club expects that good manners, shooting courtesy and common sense will ensure friendly and cooperative usage.
All guns on the firing line must be made safe and cannot be handled while anyone is on the range.
Glass and other fragmental material may not be used for targets. Paper targets, clay pigeons and approved swinging targets only. Do not place clay pigeons against the legs of the target holders. Remove all paper targets when you leave. Do not bring your junk to the shooting range.
When using club target frames, please center the target so damage is done only to the target backer board and not the frame.
The range committee welcomes any ideas about how to improve or make better use of the range. Contact any committee member or bring your ideas to the monthly meeting.
The pistol range is under way with construction of the shooting platform to be built in the spring.
